Description
Extended-release injectable buprenorphine products are becoming available commercially; however there is minimal clinical experience with using these products in patients with opioid use disorder. It is essential for healthcare professionals to understand and be aware of new treatment modalities for OUD to share with patients as part of treatment options. Opioids remain the leading cause of fatal overdose in the US, and highly potent synthetic opioids are the most common opioid responsible for fatal overdoses, the rate of which continues to increase. This webinar will present data on the current state of opioid use disorder in the US, review injectable extended release buprenorphine products as well as the use of extended-release buprenorphine products for patients using fentanyl, and discuss the possible role for these treatments.
