About This Course
This course is intended for judges, all individuals working within justice systems, and justice system stakeholders who may interface with individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) including opioids, stimulants, and polysubstance use disorders and with co-occurring psychiatric disorders.
This online course provides a foundational level understanding of the medical aspects of SUDs including the science of addiction; misconceptions; evidence-based practices needed in the prevention, identification and treatment of SUDs and co-occurring psychiatric disorders for individuals involved with the justice system; cultural considerations; and the role of trauma and addiction as threats to reducing recidivism.
