Jermaine Jones, PhD; Columbia University Associate Professor of Clinical Neurobiology in Psychiatry, SME community-based

Dr. Jermaine Jones is an associate professor with the Division on Substance Use Disorders at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Jones received his doctorate in behavioral neuroscience from American University, where his research focused on understanding the abuse potential of cocaine.

His area of focus has been to try and better understand how genetic factors influence the risk of developing substance use disorders, and the effectiveness of novel medications.

More recently, Dr. Jones’ research has begun to focus on community-based efforts to reduce the harms associated with opioid and psychostimulant use.

Presentation Overview

This webinar, focused on naloxone mapping, will explore why naloxone is still the standard of care for opioid overdose reversal, as well as understand changes in the illicit opioid market that have affected overdose rates, and will introduce the concept for naloxone mapping and saturation. This webinar also features a share out by Kali Joseph, MSW. Kali, Tulalip Tribes, has a masters of social work with a concentration on health/mental health integrative practice. As the manager of the Tulalip Recovery Resource Center, she has helped implement a culturally tailored program to combat the ongoing opioid crisis in her tribal community.
