The Connection between Mental Health and Opioid Use Disorder
Description
There is a high prevalence of mental health disorders among those with opioid use disorder. However, many practitioners still find it difficult to distinguish between differential diagnoses that may have similar symptomatology, especially in regards to mental health and substance misuse. This webinar will enable participants to summarize the prevalence of common co-morbid mental illness, explain the relationships between concurrent mental health and opioid use disorder (OUD) and recognize risk factors associated with both mental health disorders and OUD.

Physicians, nurse practitioners or other advanced practice nurses, PAs, psychologists, social workers, and healthcare teams.

Educational Objectives
To summarize the prevalence of common co-morbid mental health (MH) disorders, explain genetic and environmental relationship between concurrent MH disorders and OUD, and describe the impact that co-occurring mental health and opioid use disorders can have on treatment of both.
Method of participating in the learning process
In order to receive maximum credit, learners must:
1. Review the materials provided in this module.
2. Earn a minimum cumulative score of 75% on the post-test.
3. Complete an evaluation to assess satisfaction and plans for individual and/or team practice change.
4. Follow instructions at the end of the course regarding how to retrieve a certificate.*
