Course Overview

About: This all day training of the Strategic Planning for Opioid Settlement Spending -- Mcminnville Oregon training was to analyze the community's unique needs related to behavioral health and collaboratively develop spending strategies that will have the most impact on the community. 

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the allowable spends according to Exhibit E
  • Learn about evidence based approaches to each Exhibit E category and the return on investments for each
  • Identify the most important and relevant existing behavioral health resources and gaps in the community
  • Develop and prioritize spending strategies that address the previously identified resources and gaps

Presenters: 

Jonathan JK Stoltman is Director of the Opioid Policy Institute and co-director of Reporting on Addiction. In 2019, he completed his PhD in Lifespan Developmental Psychology from West Virginia University and has worked as a researcher focusing on opioid addiction treatment for the past decade. Jonathan's academic work has appeared in leading journals and at national conferences. Their current work focuses on addiction stigma, the media, and digital approaches to addiction treatment.

 

Rhiannon Streight, MPH currently leads the facilitation of six different Opioid Settlement Regions in Colorado including both rural and urban communities. This work requires extensive subject matter expertise in the National Opioid Settlements, the numerous evidence based strategies that exist to combat the opioid epidemic, and the public administration and coalition building and group management required to effectively move the work forward. In addition, Rhiannon leads the first collaborative strategic planning effort among city and county in Kansas, supporting Sedgwick County and Wichita respectively. Rhiannon is particularly knowledgeable regarding prevention, harm reduction, and recovery based opioid programming.
