Webinar Description: This activity focuses on foundational elements of equitable, patient-centered care for people with chronic pain, with a specific focus on shared-decision making, functional goal setting and effective communication strategies. Participants learn how to empower people with chronic pain to take an active role in their care through patient-centered care approaches.
Educational Objectives:
- Describe desired behaviors patients with chronic pain are seeking from their clinicians and identify information that patients wish their clinicians knew about chronic pain
- Discuss how clinicians can empower their patients through equitable patient-centered pain care
- Identify how to partner with patients to set patient-centered functional goals
- Summarize culturally competent strategies that are helpful to communicate with patients with chronic pain
- Analyze how to navigate conflict when it arises in the patient-clinician relationship
