Target Audience:
 This activity is designed for physicians, advanced practice professionals, nurses, psychologists, pharmacists, social workers, residents/fellows, health professional students, and other mental health clinicians. This activity is accredited for physicians, nurses, PAs, pharmacists, interprofessional teams, and other health professionals.

Webinar Description: This module reviews introductory information regarding pain, different types of pain, acute versus chronic pain, and how to perform a pain evaluation. It describes a comprehensive pain assessment integrating a socio-psycho-biological approach and identifies the impact of psychosocial factors, including mental health, on the pain experience. 

 

Educational Objectives:

  • Identify different types of acute and chronic pain and how to characterize them
  • Name risk factors for the development of chronic pain
  • Describe how to perform a comprehensive pain assessment integrating a socio-psycho-biological approach
  • Identify the impact of psychosocial factors, including mental health, on the pain experience
