PCSS-MOUD Clinical Roundtable: Screening for Substance Use in Primary Care: Screening Tools and Guidance for Implementation
Activity Description
Join this PCSS-MOUD Clinical Roundtable, comprised of a short slide presentation followed by a Q&A presented by Jennifer McNeely, MD, MS.  Primary care providers are situated to identify and treat substance use disorder with their patients.  There are many different screening tools and assessments that can be used to determine if a patient has a substance use disorder.  This roundtable looks at some of the most popular tools, how to determine which ones are appropriate for your practice and how to use these tools to initiate treatment conversations with your patients.

Target audience: Physicians, Physician Associates, Nurse and Nurse Practitioners

Credit designations available: AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, AAPA Category 1 CME Credit, Nursing Contact Hour(s) 

Educational objectives:  At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to:

  • Consider the clinical value of identifying unhealthy substance use

  • Characterize existing validated screening and assessment instruments

  • Evaluate and prioritize the features of screening tools that are most important in your practice setting

  • Plan your implementation strategy for introducing or modifying screening in your practice
