Description: This roundtable will discuss treatiung patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) in the emergency department. It will look at how to identify these patients, how to prescribe buprenorphine to treat them as well as how to connect them with follow-up care.

Target audience: Health care professionals

Presenter:Jared Ross, DO

Objectives:

Identify ED patients who may benefit from treatment for OUD.
Explain the benefits and practical use of buprenorphine in the ED.
Initiate buprenorphine using an appropriate induction strategy.
Provide a bridge prescription and arrange timely follow-up for ongoing OUD care.
