Keli King, Meskwaki/Ponca/Sac & Fox​ MSW-ITR, SWC, ACC

Keli is the Indigenous Resilience Coordinator at Kauffman & Associates, as well as a Technology Transfer Specialist for the ORN responding to Tribal Opioid Response grantees. She is a descendent of the Meskwaki Nation, Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma, and Sac & Fox Tribe of Oklahoma. Keli received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Oklahoma State University before earning her Master of Social Work degree with a focus in Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency from the University of Toronto.

Keli has 15 years of experience working in various capacities in the social work field of losing children to foster care, case management for a mental health facility, serving as a drug and alcohol counselor for youth in a residential treatment facility, case management for a women’s re-entry program, as well as working as a mental health therapist in a private practice.

Presentation Overview
This webinar will highlight the impacts of historical trauma in native communities, as well as the strength and resilience Native people possess. It will also expound on how the resilience outlined, in tandem with Indigenous culture is critical in substance use prevention work.
