Arlene Brown (Bishop Paiute Tribe)
Arlene Brown (Bishop Paiute Tribe) is the founder and CEO of Crossroads Recovery Center and Skoden Native Harm Reduction Services, which was the first CA state certified syringe program specifically created for native people. Ms. Brown also serves as a Subject Matter Expert on Indigenous Harm Reduction; Tribal Medication for Addiction Treatment and the decolonization of substance use services and western treatment modalities. Ms. Brown received her Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice and a Bachelor of Arts in American Indian studies from the University of North Dakota and continued her education with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology.
This webinar, focused on harm reduction, will help participants define culturally responsive approaches to community wellness including syringe exchange programs and tribal overdose response navigators and their importance minimizing the negative consequences associated with substance use. This webinar also features a share out by Philomena Kebec, J.D “Caring for Our Relatives.”
