Series Overview


This three-part Learning Community Series, Addressing Disparities: Equitable Prescribing of Medications for Opioid Use Disorder in Black Populations will focus on differential prescribing practices of Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) for black patients vs. their counterparts.

Target Audience: This activity is designed for counselors, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, physician assistants, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, students and educators.

Historical Context: Criminalization of Substance Use Disorder in the Black Community

Session 2
Stigma and Barriers to Recovery in the Black Community
Presenter: Philip Rutherford, National Council for Mental Wellbeing

Session 3
Disparities and Inequities in MOUD Prescribing Practices
Presenter: Dr. Kanika Cunningham, MD, MPH, Director of Saint Louis County Department of Public Health

4. Following your completion of the evaluation, you must select and claim your certificate type on the next page. Once claimed, a download button will appear in your Certificate tab. If you do not see the download button or can not access your certificate, return to the course evaluation and claim your preferred credit/certificate.

5. 90 days following your completion of this activity, you will receive a survey (2 questions) to ask about changes in your practice.
